2025 Nissan Kicks vs 2025 Hyundai KONA in Waldorf, MD
2025 Nissan Kicks shown above, left, with available features. 2025 Hyundai KONA shown above, right, with available features.
Two of the most prominent models in the compact SUV class are the 2025 Nissan Kick, and the 2025 Hyundai KONA. Today, our team at Sheehy Nissan of Waldorf is offering a deeper look at these two vehicles to get a glimpse at which one comes out ahead.
Performance
Both of these SUVs are capable performers for your explorations about Waldorf, but the Kicks’ standard model edges out the KONA in how much force it generates. With Nissan’s vehicle, you’ll get 140 lb.-ft. of torque to propel you down Route 301, compared to the KONA’s 132 lb.-ft. They also offer similar fuel economies, but choosing the Kicks S affords you 35 hwy1 MPG to the KONA SE’s 34 hwy2 MPG. When you move up the trim levels to the Kicks SR, you gain immediate access to an AWD system. With the KONA Limited, Hyundai’s highest option, AWD requires an additional cost. Further, fans of a variable transmission lose access to their preferred drivetrain by moving up the KONA’s trim levels where it swaps to an 8-speed automatic beginning with the N Line S trim. Meanwhile, the standard Xtronic Continuously Variable Transmission® is standard across every Nissan Kicks.
Interior
A peek inside these two models reveals a number of features, such as the 2025 Nissan Kicks’ 42.7 inches of front leg room. You’ll have a little less space to stretch in the KONA, which offers a shorter 41.7 inches. You’ll have extra room for equipment on your trip to the Robert D. Stethem Memorial Sports Complex in the Kicks as well, since it provides a spacious 30 cu. ft. of cargo volume3 with the rear seats up. The KONA is a little bit tighter, giving you 25.5 cu. ft. to work with before you fold down the back seats. You won’t need to worry about a cold drive to work in either of these vehicles, since both offer available heated front seats. Your passengers will also have the ability to do a little stargazing during a nighttime cruise in both cars – the Kicks provides an available moonroof, while the KONA offers a sunroof.
Safety and Driver-Assist
Neither of these vehicles slouch in the safety department, with each one offering their own package of driver-assist features. The Kicks is outfitted with standard Nissan Safety Shield®4 360, while the KONA is equipped with standard Hyundai Smartsense. Both packages net you standard anti-collision tools to detect risks ahead, such as Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection5 in the Kicks and Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with Pedestrian Detection6 in the KONA. In the Kicks, Intelligent Cruise Control7 comes standard on all trims and adapts to traffic around you. A similar feature8 isn’t available on the KONA before its higher-tier SEL Convenience trim. The Kicks also offers a number of utilities, such as the standard Tire Fill Assistant9 which flashes your lights and sounds your horn when the right tire pressure is reached. This feature is not available on the KONA. If this comprehensive comparison has convinced you to try the Kicks yourself, contact us to schedule a test drive!

Testimonials
I will be back soon for car #3
The service is always a 10/10!
“ The service is always a 10/10! I traded in my 2019 NIssan Rogue for a 2026 Nissan Rogue thanks to the help of Willie M. My family has purchased over 7 vehicles from him. He always goes above and beyond to ensure we get the best deal and the perfect vehicle for our needs. His knowledge and dedication make the car-buying process smooth and enjoyable every time! ”
I had concerns and they were all taken cared of.
“ I had concerns and they were all taken cared of. Thanks to Mr Cho for quickly responding to my questions. Thank you to Mr Jermaine Badgett my ever patient sales person. ”
By far my best experience bringing my car to a dealership.
“ This is for Timothy Britt and the technician who serviced my vehicle. Thank you so very much for all your patience and prompt handling of all my issues regarding my vehicle. You went above and beyond from explaining things thoroughly being patient to and helping me understand as a “girl” all the things needed to resolve my car issues. I greatly appreciate the time you took with me and will definitely ask for you to be my service rep anytime I bring my vehicle in. By far my best experience bringing my car to a dealership. ”

“ Bought my first new car a 2025 Nissan Sentra hands down the sales team were amazing and seemed to genuinely care about you as the customer. Shoutout to Don (former employee who helped us at first but then resigned) Manny (salesman really nice young guy amazing customer service skills & very knowledgeable about Nissan overall) and finally Jordy (finance manager who help get me at a good monthly payment rate as well as explaining the financial benefits, rebates, and student discount for college graduates)! I honestly came looking for a used car but the fact I was able to get a 2025 brand new car with little difference price wise from a used model was a true blessing~ I would definitely recommend this dealership mainly for the staff it better to go somewhere where your treated like a person than a piggy bank. Best regards, Corey W ”
Always a pleasure coming here
“ It is always a pleasure coming here. I am always respected and never taken advantage of. I'll keep my business where appreciation resides. I love my VIP service ”
Appreciate
“ I appreciate a business that is straightforward, respects my wishes and didn’t have me come in unless I was actually leaving with a vehicle and that’s exactly what Paul and his team did. Paul was consistent and made sure I got everything I needed and left with a vehicle and I didn’t sit for hours either. Thank you. ”
Great Place
“ Sheehy Nissan is a great place to bring your car for service. The staff is very professional and extremely courteous. ”
Jocelyn provided excellent customer service throughout my whole experience.
“ I honestly don’t understand the negative reviews. I was in town from NY when my serpentine belt snapped which caused me to have it towed to the closest Nissan, not only were they able to run a diagnostic before the original appointment, they were very good about communications … I ended up needing to replace the alternator as a result of the belt snapping, but they were very clear and direct about what the next steps we’re going to be and how soon they were going to be able to return my car. Jocelyn provided excellent customer service throughout my whole experience. ”
The Nissan team was pretty good.
“ The Nissan team was pretty good. I had to call a few times to get a status on my vehicle which I understand that like any job can get real busy. I had a unique situation that a mechanic who had 20 years experienced hopefully has fixed. ”
The seating area was a little warm. Great experience.
“ When I walked in Chris looked up and said can I help you. First someone did that while entering the service area. He was very helpful and the service was completed in a timely manner. Chris was polite. The ladies at the cashier were very friendly and efficient. When Cheryl called to check on my service experience she was polite and friendly. The seating area was a little warm. Great experience. ”
The customer service representative was great with helping to get the car fix.
“ The customer service representative was great with helping to get the car fix. The person kept me abroad on what the mechanic found out why the engine light came on. I loved that the customer representative text me regarding my car progress. ”
This was the best experience that I have ever had at Sheehy.
“ This was the best experience that I have ever had at Sheehy. I have had my car since 2008 at so happy with my tech Jason. His patients going over the things that I needed was fantastic. He was respectfulnes was appreciated because this day and age it rarely exists. Called me every step of the way to keep me updated. In the past I would call Sheehy about a status. I never had to do this because Jason was prompt with feedback on my car. I hope that my next service would be with him. He made me feel like he cared about providing great customer service. ”

4: Nissan Safety Shield technologies can’t prevent all collisions or warn in all situations. See Owner’s Manual for important safety information.
5: Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection cannot prevent all collisions and may not provide warning or braking in all conditions. Driver should monitor traffic conditions and brake as needed to prevent collisions. See Owner’s Manual for safety information.
6: Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with Pedestrian Detection (FCA-Ped) is intended to be a supplement to safe driving practices. The system is not designed to detect certain stationary objects such as trees or poles, and may not detect all vehicles or pedestrians under certain conditions. The system is a driver assistance system and is not a substitute for safe driving. The driver is responsible for being attentive and maintaining control of the vehicle, and should not wait for the system's alerts before braking as there may not be sufficient time to brake safely. See Owner’s Manual for further details and limitations.
7: Intelligent Cruise Control uses limited braking and is not a collision avoidance or warning system. Driver should monitor traffic conditions and brake as needed to prevent collisions. See Owner’s Manual for safety information.
8: Navigation-based Smart Cruise Control (N-SCC) with Stop & Go can help automatically adjust vehicle speed when driving on highways by using road information from the navigation system. N-SCC only operates on main roads of select highways, and does not operate at interchanges or junctions. N-SCC should not be used in poor weather, heavy or varying traffic, on winding or slippery roads, or if the navigation system is not working properly. N-SCC is a driver convenience feature and not a collision avoidance or warning device. Driver remains responsible for checking the speed limit and distance to the vehicle ahead, steering the vehicle and slowing or stopping the vehicle to avoid a collision. See Owner's Manual for further details and limitations.
9***: Vehicle must be on for the Easy-Fill Tire Alert to operate.
